Es director del Centro Andaluz de Arqueología Ibérica, con sede en la Universidad de Jaén, desde su fundación en 1998. Arturo Ruiz está al frente de este instituto multidisciplinar que ha potenciado, con sus investigaciones, el valor del patrimonio íbero en Jaén, dándole proyección internacional y apostando por el uso de nuevas tecnologías. Entre sus logros está la documentación en 3D de buena parte del patrimonio íbero andaluz, el proyecto turístico ‘Viaje al tiempo de los íberos’ o la integración en la Ruta Europea de los Fenicios, entidad que este científico ha presidido entre 2014 y 2016.
