Su trabajo y pasión por el cine western lo llevaron a adquirir hace treinta años Fort Bravo, un poblado del oeste en mitad del desierto de Tabernas (Almería). Éste sirvió como decorado de diversas películas del género en los años sesenta y setenta. Actualmente se sigue utilizando como un plató para rodajes aunque también está abierto para los visitantes. Rafael asegura que Fort Bravo es «como un museo viviente para la historia del cine» y que va a seguir rodando allí «aunque sea en una silla de ruedas».
My wife, who is Spanish, and I visited Fort Bravo in April, during Semana Santa. We had a fabulous time. The staff, cast and crew were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
We are great fans of the western genre, especially the spaghetti westerns and the whole experience at Fort Bravo and Almeria made the visit very memorable. As we live outside Marbella, we are not so far away and have said we will visit once more in the very near future.
